These Spicy Savory Steel Cut Oats have all of the best flavors. The trick to quick steel cut oats is soaking them overnight – it reduces the cook time to 1/3. You’ll leave yourself much less work in the morning & you’ll be delighted with the flavor and texture!

Spicy Savory Steel Cut Oats

Serves: 1

  • ½ cup steel cut oats
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup unsweetened nut milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic flakes
  • pinch of cayenne
  • pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
  • sliced red onion
  • fried egg
  • hot sauce
  • everything bagel seasoning
  1. Soak steel cut oats in water overnight
  2. In the morning, transfer everything to a pot and add nut milk. Cook over low heat for about 10-15 minute, stirring often. Once it starts to thicken up, add all of the seasoning and mix well.
  3. Top with red onion, egg, hot sauce & EB seasoning
